I personally love my pets as my own children, so therefore, yes, I highly recommend bringing your entire family. The process does take sometime, so plan in advance, be patient and make sure to dot all your i’s and cross all your t’s!

Was Your Income Adequate to Do 90% of What You Wanted To Do Beyond Your Normal Living Expenses?

I own my own Travel Agency, so I am lucky enough to be able to do my job from anywhere in the world, as long as there is internet and phone access. The reason my husband and I moved to Maui is because we came here over 8 years ago and fell in love with everything. Happiness to us is worth a million bucks!

What Were Your Main Activities Outside of Work – And, Did You Find You Had Enough to Keep You Occupied?

Living previously in Portland, Oregon, where it rained 10+ months of the year, led you to do more indoor activities. Maui and Hawaii in general, allow you to switch gears and to be more outdoorsy and enjoy the numerous activities there are to offer.

Did You Find It Easy to Make New Friends in Hawaii? And, Were People “Like You” Easy to Find?

As I tend to get older, I thought the friends that I have been lucky to have in my life, were it. However, once I moved to Maui, I have gained an enormous amount of amazing friends not just acquaintances that I had in Oregon. These phenomenal people have become apart of my ohana!!

What Did You Think About the Traffic and Parking Situation?

When coming to Hawaii, people need to slow down, relax and enjoy the island(s). It is all about the Aloha and being in a fabulous place!

What Do You Like Most About Living in Hawaii?

1. I love waking up everyone morning and realizing that I live in Paradise! I tend to wonder how I got so lucky to live in such a glorious place!! I am truly blessed!

What Did You Dislike Most About Living in Hawaii?

1. I wish there was a Target here as I am not a Walmart person. However, I know there is one coming late next year to early 2015.

There are definitely some things that are hard to get on Maui versus the mainland and even other islands, like Oahu, where there are more shopping options.

My husband and I roughly spend about $300 per month on food.

I do have my own business, a full service Travel Agency assisting clients with world wide travel. I assist several clients that come to the islands and the locals wanting to leave the islands.

Is Hawaii the Ultimate Place to Live Whether You Have Money or Not?

Living in Hawaii is not for everyone! You have to really want to live here and to make it work for your family and you. I love that we have moved here and just wish it was sooner!
