What’s your fav: Sunset or the Duke?
What is it about sunsets that draws people to just stand there and watch? I’m sure there’s a scientific explanation somewhere, and if you ever get to Waikiki, you’ll want be standing right here: next to the larger-than-life (no pun) statue of Hawaii’s first Ambassador of Aloha, Duke Kahanamoku while you gaze with hundreds others at a dramatic sunset like this one.
Big mahalos to Jana Vasilantonakis who sent me this photo – I’m so happy she did!

Aloha Peter,
I don’t know if you’ve seen this documentary, but it’s well worth the time, approximately 80 minutes, it takes to watch the full episode. I was fascinated not only because it’s such important part of the history of Hawai’i & the US but because my dad used to talk story of hanging out on Waikiki as a boy & surfing with the Duke. (For years I thought they were contemporaries until I did the math.) http://pbs.org/americanmasters

Yes. I linked to the online version of that documentary and also wrote an article about it. Thanks for sharing.
