Does it Get More Exotic Than Black Sand?
If I ask you the color of sand, you’ll probably say something like a light tan or perhaps even an ivory white. And this is the color most of us envision when we think about a beach – it’s “sand color”. So when you see a black sand beach for the first time, it really blows you away. Beaches aren’t supposed to look like this!
If the looks blow you away, trust me the actual presence will. A black sand beach doesn’t feel playful, like a typical beach. The blackness gives it a serious, almost scary feel. That said, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss the next time you’re in Hawaii – if you can find one!

This photo is both beautiful and amazing. I have been fortunate to have visited Hawaii twice and hope to do so again soon. Mahalo to the person who shared this photo. And to Peter a big Mahalo for all that you do for this page. I have listened and watched your videos for advice and information about Hawaii. Through the videos and my own research I know that moving to Hawaii would not be a good thing for me, however visiting when my family and I can is still a worthwhile experience. ALOHA!

Well said! Nothing like politics to ruin a good time
Well I’m, moving there because racist like Trump and Desantis are ruining it for everyone person of color dream to live in America period.
If that’s truly your reason for coming to Hawaii – you’re probably not going to find what you’re looking for.
Shell Stokes, my wife an I have an inter-racial, international marriage of 49-plus years. My wife was born in North Korea and lived in Busan Korea after leaving the refugee camp on Koji Island (Goejido). We were married in S. Korea in 1973 and have lived in three countries. In the United States, we have lived in Oklahoma, Mississippi, Louisiana, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and New York and Utah.
We have both experienced racism. I regret to say the neither of us have experienced racism from conservative individuals, rather the greatest amount of bigotry and hatred we have experienced were from far left (pseudo-progressive €” actually regressive individuals who consider themselves enlightened an d Leftist African Americans. We have found that Africans who have migrated to the United States from Africa are usually far kinder and accepting than black and white folks who consider themselves progressive.
I love the Photo!! Hawaii is filled with Hidden Gems like this waiting to be discovered.
Well said – and these gems are like everywhere.
If anyone chooses to live in Hawaii, they just need to want to and be willing to make it happen.
Yes, and that usually takes an extraordinary effort. For those of us that have made the transition – it’s well worth it!
HE CAUSED PRICES TO RISE TOO HIGH AND I CANT AFFORD TO LIVE THERE NOW
THE OVERWHELMIMG MAJORIY IN HAWAII WOULD DISAGREE WITH THAT. THEY WILL MOST DEFINITELY OVERWHELMINGLY VOTE FOR BIDEN AGAIN IN ’24.
Peter, you are spot on. Just like I’ve heard it said, Hawaii’s politics are as blue as the ocean. What a shame. Rinse and repeat. I lived there twice, 7 years all told beautiful state, beautiful people but many seem to lack logical/critical thinking.
