One of my favorite activities on Maui is to drive up Haleakala National Park and walk around the crater. This is one of the most photogenic places on the island of Maui and anywhere in the Hawaiian island chain.
Wonderful – I love Haleakala. We went for sunrise once as well – and it was cold up there! And there were lots of other people! But it was great to see it. A friend of ours has said that gazing at Haleakala is the closest he gets to having a religious experience.
Yep, when you get up there you can’t believe how many people are already there! We drove the car up – and at the top was van after van full of tourists! An awesome sunrise spot… highly recommended!
I haven’t been to Haleakala in a LONG time. The last time I visited was to see the sunrise… truly an amazing sight to behold.
Hi Dale,
I’ve been there for sunrise – wow – yes, amazing – and COLD! Bring your winter jackets or layers of long sleeves!
