Agreed. My best community experiences have been doing volunteer work for causes near and dear. One of my faves right now. @Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park on Kauai doing beach clean-up every Saturday, as well as two big events every year (Make a Difference Day and Earth Day) … I love the park, walked there even when I was a visitor each Christmas and now I help take care of the park. I also built community through my church (Crossroads Christian Fellowship) and that has helped me feel like I have family, even though not related by blood.
